FDNY-certified inspections, emergency light testing, and fire safety compliance for The Bronx buildings — offices, residential, restaurants, retail, and industrial. Free estimates.
The Bronx is anchored by Yankee Stadium, the Hub commercial corridor, and the Hunts Point food distribution district — the largest food market in the country and one of the most active industrial occupancies in NYC. Empire Fire Services inspects extinguishers across South Bronx commercial corridors, Riverdale residential and institutional buildings, Pelham Bay and Throggs Neck retail, and the medical campus around Montefiore. Bronx buildings tend to be older Class A occupancies (residential conversions, prewar offices) with growing newer construction on the waterfront.

Code requirements that come up most often in our The Bronx inspections.
South Bronx and parts of Highbridge have many older residential buildings converted to community-use occupancies. Verify NFPA 10 Table 6.2.1.1 Class A coverage — 75-foot maximum travel distance per unit, minimum 2-A rating per floor.
Class B coverage required at 50-foot travel distance for ordinary hazard. Repair shops also need Class A units for general office areas — single ABC unit per zone is usually insufficient.
Mixed Class A and Class B hazards across the food distribution market. Cold storage rooms with refrigerant exposure require specific extinguisher placement away from chiller equipment.
If you've received a violation, we can usually fix it same-day or next-day.
Tampered pin or missing tamper seal is treated as an out-of-service unit and cited. We re-pin and re-seal on inspection.
A 5-lb ABC unit does not meet 4-A rating per NFPA 10 §6.2.1.1 for ordinary hazard at 6,000 sq ft. Common undersizing issue in older Bronx commercial spaces.
Dents, corrosion, or shell deformation requires the unit be removed from service immediately. Hydrostatic testing may not restore it.
