FDNY-certified inspections, emergency light testing, and fire safety compliance for Staten Island buildings — offices, residential, restaurants, retail, and industrial. Free estimates.
Staten Island has the lowest building density of the five boroughs but the highest concentration of single-tenant commercial buildings — retail strip centers, light industrial along the Goethals corridor, marine and waterfront occupancies, and the Staten Island University Hospital campus. Empire Fire Services covers all of Staten Island with weekly route service, and our pricing structure is the same as our Manhattan and Brooklyn rates — no travel surcharges for North Shore, South Shore, or Mid-Island.

Code requirements that come up most often in our Staten Island inspections.
Howland Hook and the North Shore waterfront have marine occupancies subject to Coast Guard rules in addition to NYC Fire Code. Verify hazard class and extinguisher agent type with both authorities.
Many warehouse and distribution tenants — Class B and Class D coverage may apply where flammable liquids or combustible metals are present. Standard ABC dry chemical is not always sufficient.
Hylan Boulevard, Forest Avenue, and Richmond Avenue corridors are dense with multi-tenant retail. Each tenant is responsible for its own extinguisher compliance; landlords sometimes assume building-wide coverage exists when it does not.
If you've received a violation, we can usually fix it same-day or next-day.
Beach-adjacent and seasonal businesses on the South Shore sometimes miss the annual window. Re-tagging within 30 days is straightforward; longer lapses may require a full external maintenance check.
Boiler rooms and small mechanical closets in strip retail often have a single 5-lb ABC where a 10-lb Class B is required for the hazard.
Fire Code §906.4 requires records be available to the inspector. Cloud-only records without a printable summary on premises has been cited.
